Naloxone
Naloxone is an opioid antagonist that may temporarily reverse the effects of opioid overdose. Naloxone can restore breathing in 2-3 minutes. Some overdoses may require more than one dose of naloxone. Naloxone can work on opioids taken including fentanyl, heroin, morphine and codeine. Naloxone injectable kits can be obtained free of charge at pharmacies and harm reduction outreach organizations in BC. Naloxone will not reverse overdose on non-opioid drugs such as cocaine or benzodiazepines.
If an overdose is experienced, always call 911.
Fentanyl Test Strips
Fentanyl test strips are a drug testing tool used to detect the presence of fentanyl in drugs. Please note no test is 100% accurate and is also based on the sample tested. Illicit drugs are not made with any regulations and may be inconsistent in ingredient disbursement.
